Cavalock and The Haagen-Dazs Reunion

Good ol' Japan, the only country where I can get a free, legal ass rim first thing in the morning. Of cos, I'm referring to the one-and-only toilet seat bidet in my hotel room. Gawd, how I miss that. I thought for this Japan post, I'll just share some of the rituals or things I look forward to the most when I was back in Tokyo last week.

The unique Japanese Haagen-Dazs ice-creams on sale in their convenience stores are a regular must-buy for me. I'm a sucker for all these new flavours and I make it a point to try as many as possible. My routine was to grab them on my way back to the hotel after dinner and have them for (extra) dessert in the room. This time I spotted tiny tubs of vanilla cookie raspberry, coffee vanilla, waguri (Japanese chestnut) and some kinda custard flavour. There were others on sale that were inspired by pastries like the opera cake but I forgot about them, as I was distracted by the new Crispy Sandwich range. I first saw this in an ad in a copy of the Food Network magazine.

Waiting in that fridge were chocolate orange, caramel classic and sweet potato. Picked the most Japanese one of the lot and that was naturally the sweet potato. Frozen creamy goodness in every bite. I did a little research and saw a ton of Japanese Haagen-Dazs flavours that came and went over the last couple years. Japonais Ichigo Azuki (strawberry and sweet bean), Pumpkin, Foret Noire and Apple Pie are just a handful of them. How do they come up with such amazing offerings?!?

No Tokyo trip would be complete without purchasing at least one drink from a Japanese vending machine. The weather was freakin' cold the entire week so my pick was a warm bottle of fruit tea. Not bad, very strong lychee flavour which I kinda liked.
